Authenticity is for me the most important element of Natural Leadership. This provides clarity and trust in and for -the people around me. Curiosity helps me stay on that course and leads me on my own natural path. There nature plays a very important role by providing beautifull symbols and colourfull insights.
By trusting others to follow their natural path, may it be an organisation, a team, or a person, I beleive that consideration and consciousness become an element of all decision making. This will help balance the values of all stakeholders in our environment.

For me Natural Leadership means the challenging but rewarding pursuit of authenticity. To really connect with yourself, and engage deeply with others. It requires the ability to feel what is inside and speak and act from that source. And embracing the vulnerability that may be a consequence. It also involves the ability to listen with an open mind and open heart. I feel this deepens connection and then increases the creative power within relationships, both personal and professional. Most importantly, it helps navigating personal and work decisions based on core values, resulting in a more authentic and joyful life.
In these profoundly changing times, people are finding out what really matters in life and the world. In my view, the key to a new future lies in an increased awareness of and connection with the self, others and nature. Creativity and new initiatives will emerge from there. This is the core of Natural Leadership.
Rodney HlatswayoLocal guide
Rodney was born and grew up a few hundred metres away from the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. This ensured that even as a young boy, Rodney grew up with an interest in nature and wildlife. Rodney has been guiding trails with the Wilderness Leadership School since 2007 and one of the school’s most experienced guides, spending over 2000 hours a year in the wilderness. His brilliant sense of humour and intimate knowledge of the iMfolozi area, wildlife and Zulu culture make him a sought after guide in the area.
Beyond guiding, Rodney also runs a small non-profit in his community focused on youth development and helping people from his village benefit from nature
