Rodney Hlatswayo

He grew up a few hundred meters away from the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. As a result, Rodney grew up with an interest in nature and wildlife at an early age. Rodney has worked for the Wilderness Leadership School since 2007 and is one of the school’s most experienced guides, spending over 2,000 hours a year in the wilderness. With his brilliant sense of humour and intimate knowledge of the Umfolozi area, and experience in the wilderness and Zulu culture, he is a sought-after guide in the area. In addition to mentoring, Rodney also runs a small non-profit in his community that focuses on developing the youth and people of his village with whom he helps share his experiences in nature.
